 FISHING VESSEL SAFETY MEETING
WITH THE TRANSPORTATION SAFETY BOARD OF CANADA

Despite many safety improvements made by the fishing industry over the past several years, 60 fishermen have lost their lives in commercial fishing accidents during the last five years. Many more have been injured. The Transportation Safety Board is conducting a ‘Safety Issue Investigation’ to identify ways to make fishing safer.

Currently, the Transportation Safety Board is facilitating Guided Discussions with fishermen from across the country to hear your views and your side of the stories to better understand the challenges and safety issues facing you.

Fishermen are therefore invited to join these Guided Discussions sessions to find ways to improve the safety of commercial fishing in Canada.  The meetings will be held at the following locations and times:

January 25 - 9:30 to 12:30 - 'Fish Safe’     #2 - 11771 Horseshoe Way, Richmond

January 26 - 9:30 to 12:30 - 'The River Club' 11111 Horseshoe Way, Richmond

January 27 - 9:30 to 12:30 - 'The River Club' 11111 Horseshoe Way, Richmond

January 29 -10:00 to 13:00 - 'Kwakiutl District Council Health Center'
                                                1400A Drake Road, Campbell River
